New Year’s Goals - Not Resolutions

I just spent the last few hours planning my goals and tasks for the New Year. I don’t like to think of them as resolutions. We all have the capacity to resolve something. But that is only 10%. The rest of the 90% comes from creating a plan and executing that plan.

People set New Year’s resolutions to quit smoking and lose weight, and maybe finally get organized. But how many of those resolutions actually stick? The gym is always crowded through the month of January. As February begins, attendance is in a steady decline. What happened to the resolve?

The answer is that it never took off because people failed to plan. That is not something that will happen to my business, that’s for sure. Success is all about knowing what you want and knowing how you will get there. And, it takes daily monitoring to make sure you are on track.

Remember, anyone can set a goal or make a resolutions. But without forming an action plan, it won’t take root.
